From July 1 to July 30, 2024, freelancers were required to submit their tax filings for income earned in the second quarter. A total of 3,288 tax filings were submitted for Q2 2024, with a combined total of 6,685 filings for the first and second quarters. The number of tax filings for the first and second quarters of 2024 increased by 21% compared to the same periods in 2023.
Compared to the first two quarters of 2023, the number of individuals opting for Model 2, which requires mandatory contributions for pension and disability insurance, increased by 24% in 2024. Additionally, the number of those choosing Model 1 grew by 17%.
Notably, the number of timely submissions increased by 37%, while the number of amended filings decreased by 50%, indicating that users have successfully adapted to the electronic tax filing system.
If you are a freelancer who has earned income but have not yet submitted your tax filing within the designated period, you are required to do so. It is important to note that, in such cases, you will be subject to interest payments in addition to taxes and contributions. The interest amount depends on the income earned and the number of days of delay.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Finance, the Tax Administration, and NALED launched the Freelancer Portal in the middle of last year, with its development supported by the StarTech project of Philip Morris.
